Ostrog Monastery, Montenegro

The lower part of the monastery was built in the 19th century and here the relics of the holy New Martyr Stanko. It was a 15-year-old boy who lost his hands because he did not want to betray the holy Orthodox faith. The Turks cut off the hands of a child, in which he was holding a cross.

To get to the top of the monastery is necessary to overcome the road, 5 km in length, which runs through the woods (this is with regard to motorists). Hikers climb upward on the shorter road, 20 minutes. Here is just a rock, and there are two churches. One is called the Holy Cross, built in 1665 and the second Vvedenskaya Church of the Virgin Mary, built in the 18th century. Church of the Virgin Mary is so small that there can accommodate no more than 3 - 5 people, because its size is only 3 by 3 meters. However, this is the most sacred place in the stone room, indulged in the prayers of St. Basil at least 15 years of life.

In the monastery you can see relics of the ancient church: prayer book in 1732, and candle holders in 1779. To enable this attraction in your trip, you will need to travel by car or bus from Podgorica, 30 km to the base of the rock OstroŇ°ka greda. Well, to Podgorica, flight of any company.
